Welcome to VJ. You need to make sure you follow the USCIS guidelines for photos.

I am worried it is a little dark. It was taken from a digital camera but it appears a little dark. Is it OK to send with the I-129F?

You need an all white background, not a white door. You can read up on some photo requirements here

Also, they might reject the photo if you're wearing a white shirt because it doesn't provide enough contrast with the background. That's what I was told once when I went to get passport photos taken.

It was well worth the big 9 bucks I spent at walgreens for the pics not to have a problem with uscis. Within 10 minutes the photos were done and exactly what was required. Usually they will give you the extra copies for free.

thats what i did.

I got the UK standard ones but as yet we haven't been approved, touched, RFE'd or anything so who knows if they'll be ok... Keeping fingers crossed...

That's what I did too. Had my passport photos within 10 minutes. In fact, my fiancee was having trouble understanding what size the passport photos should be, so she had a digital photo taken with her camera while sitting in front of a white wall and emailed the digital photo to me. I took it down to Walgreens and they adjusted it to the correct size and I had her photos within 10 minutes also. A lot quicker than having her send me actual photos by mail.

Right, OP, you should go somewhere that takes "passport photos" or "visa photos". They can be found in any country, in the US pharmacies like Walgreens or Eckerd work, as do camera shops. They will now the requirements and can take the photo for you. Going to such a place will result in usable photos. Taking the picture yourself or having a friend with a digital camera would work if you meet the requirements exactly as specified, but that is a lot of effort for something that can be done easily.

The pictures have to follow USCIS standards - no way around it. Take the instruction sheet with you to the photographer - don't gamble with USCIS, they kind of don't like that ;)

Good luck, L.

Honestly, the door is sooo wrong! better to have pic taken at the studio who knows how to take visa/passport photos. I'm sure you wouldn't want your petition returned just because of your picture.

Again, you are actually required to follow the instructions - exactly. If not, your petition will be returned or you will get a Request for Further Evidence. There are zillions of places for your fiance to get photos with the correct dimensions taken in Mexico. She is also going to have to fill out and sign the G-325A copies so she will already need to fed ex you her info. So why not make an attempt to do it correctly, the first time?
