Andre,

I'm sure there are many here on VJ that have used a marriage broker and have had success, but I don't think you'll find too many who would believe that you were cheated out of your money because many here think the idea of arranged marriages through a broker is shady at best. If that's the route you want to take, I'd recommend doing a search on whatever brokerage you use because if they have a bad reputation that USCIS is aware of, that could impede your chances on bringing a foreign fiancee over.

The OP said he went to Odessa to meet the woman, so why is everyone saying it's a Russian website? Odessa is not in Russia.

Shady, that is, if you put it mildly...

I also don't think too many folks on this site used this kind of service. Most seem to have met in more conventional ways...

Unfortunately there is a lot of this going on now.

But it's hardly suprising, is it?

It's like 'hookers on layaway'

Unless the USCIS completely prohibits anyone from using a marriage broker then people will use them. As I recall, there were a lot of people here on VJ all up in arms over IMBRA, and it actually focused on protection of the women being brought over here, so for every 'hooker' there's a wife beater looking for an easy target.

I think we'd all be surprised, especially if you include international dating sites which, according to IMBRA, are different from marriage brokers. There's nothing conventional about dating a foreigner no matter how you met.
