Application type: N-400 (paper filing)

Delivered to USCIS lockbox: January 28 (Arizona lockbox – confirmed by USPS tracking)

Payment: not charged yet

Receipt notice: not received yet

I filed by mail (not online), so I understand receipts usually take longer, but I’m starting to get a bit anxious because I have an upcoming address change. I’m planning to move very soon (within the next week or so), and I do not have a receipt number yet.

My myUSCIS account is new and currently empty, since I don’t have a receipt number to add the case, so I can’t update my address online at the moment. The address was only listed on the paper application itself.

• How long did it take for you to receive the receipt notice after a paper filing?

• If you moved before receiving the receipt, how did you handle the address change?

• Did USPS mail forwarding help with USCIS notices, or did you still need to wait for the receipt and then update the address?

I’m checking my mail daily and just trying to understand the best way to handle a move before the receipt arrives, without causing delays or issues.

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you, and best of luck to all January filers!

Did you file with fee reduction or waiver request?
