Thank you! Yes I had read yours! Can you remember how long it took from the interview to receiving Green card and ssn? Congrats!

Thanks! We got a verbal approval in the interview on July 23rd, the official notification came 24 hours later on the 24th. On July 29th Jaycel received her new SS Card and that same day her status changed to "Card Produced". We got the Green Card in the mail 3 days later on Aug. 1st.

Amazing! I hope that Colorado is fast too. My teen doesn’t have SSN yet so she cannot be recorded as a dependent - which would save us a couple thousand dollars!

u could have added the teen to tax returns with form W5 getting her ITIN #

but now u can amend returns as soon as her SS card is received

  1. You may file your income tax return without claiming your daughter as a dependent. After you receive her SSN, you may then amend your return on Form 1040-X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return and claim your daughter as a dependent. Generally, you have three years after the date you filed your original return or two years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later, to amend your return.

I've heard that you don't get the SSN automatically anymore due to cut funding, so please keep an eye out and make an appointment at the SSA office if it doesn't come in the mail

It depends.... that program was cut for I-765 & N-400 applicants. It did affect some I-485 applicants by mistake but Jaycel received her card automatically with no issue

Yeah it's just what I read online, it seems it only affects some people, not sure what the deciding factor is. Butttt it's best to know and potentially look at scheduling an appointment because mine was a 2 month wait LOL

We are back! Interview lasted one hour and the officer only asked me questions, and only 2 questions to my teen daughter about when my boyfriend came to visit.

We spent ages photocopying documents but she did not ask for any of them, including medical or photos, which I offered to show.

Half of the questions were from the 485 form, such as 'do you have plans to facilitate terrorism or prostitution?' Like, yeah and I would tell an officer if I did?

Anyway we left with the same piece of paper as shown in this thread by Edward and Jaycel. Now of course as soon as I arrived home I logged in to USCIS but to my surprise I no longer see the usual page with all the steps. It is now a new page that asks me what I want to do, but nothing about me, my case etc.

The officer said that unless we hear from her to show more documents we are good.

Just to update some of the Google reviews about rude staff at security: the staff were all very efficient and polite. We were asked to show the USCIS letters, ID, and take off our shoes and bags. That's all. Upstairs to my happy surprise there was not the usual arctic cold caused by AC madness so I did not freeze as expected.

The officer was a black lady, very elegant, very pleasant and with a rolling accent which at times I found slightly difficult. All the other officers I saw calling their customers seemed to be extremely pleasant and polite. Also, USCIS is now hiring Immigration agents...LOL

I will keep you updated, and I hope it's all good! (Should be: we have been together 6 years now!)

Thanks for all the comments! Very helpful.

It seems silly and counterintuitive at first, but it's asked so applicant says "No". And if, in the future they do something bad, their status can be revoked quoting they lied on application
