  1. exactly. I spent the entire week writing to the embassy and DX and I am still not getting any reply that helps. It's unbelievable. This is what I got from them: Dear applicant, Please follow the steps below: Guess what, when I go in, the word ACCESS does not exist anywhere and the applicant details do not show at all View Courier-in Receipt', So I cannot get there. In the DX site there is the passport exchange site and it has a 404 error message. If I open with a different browser it opens but it gives you NO INFO on how to do anything. disaster.
  2. Great point but of course all my emails are set to receive attachments etc and last night I did send an email to them asking to resend it.
  3. no! The email has no attachment and it's a 'no reply' email address. it says, 'The U.S. Department of State Consulate in London has requested that you send additional documents for your application. Please gather the documents listed below and generate a "Courier-In Authorization Certificate" by clicking the "View Courier-in receipt" button below. Include a copy of these instructions in the list of documents you send to the consulate.' Then you look and there is NO button! that's why I am confused!
  4. Very pleased for you! Me, I started sewing at age 12 as all trousers were too long and it became a good hobby, and I got trained too as a Tayloress, which was fun!
  5. That’s fhe problem, there is no barcode in the email! And there is a lot of text not in the same layout
  6. Yes and at the interview they told me to get three more documents, and to send them through the courier, which I will do as soon as the last two documents arrive from the USA. They have been in the post for 21 days….. next I was instructed to take the documents to the Norwich DX, with the printed instructions and they will securely deliver them to London. Hope it makes sense!
  7. Thanks! Honestly until I spoke to the agent I had no idea! Lol I am 1,54 tall or 5:1 and I sew or modify all my clothes lol…..
  8. I wanted to thank you again for your help! DX eventually called me to clarify things and the second company is subcontracting for them, which is why their name appears in my invoice. The first time I went to the site to find the courier and register, a page opened and there was a message with bold text and possibly barcodes etc. Some was instruction. I was looking at the page while on Zoom with my boyfriend and I decided to read the text better later on. But just in case, I copied and paste the text in a document. The day after when I went back to the site the instruction page was gone and I can no longer get to it. All I have is the pasted text. I read it 100 times and I am not too sure of which part is 'the first page' as the initial formatting is gone. Is this the part I need to print? 9. I see! Do you think that they would call me to a big depot hundreds of miles away from the final destination,to ask where each garment comes from!?That would be interesting, lots of my clothes are old and many ….I actually made them. One is from my mum and dates 1963. 😂 should I then bring the photos in a digital form with me? Never heard of this but you never know and I cannot risk to leave my clothes here as my body shape and Size is of children….so nothing for adults fits me nicely. 😂
  10. Many thanks! Of course there will be no labels on my clothes. I am sending less than 20 due to the high prices! And I am planning to being familiar objects so we are not forgetting our Italian British background!
  11. many thanks! Could I ask another question as you have made it safely to the other side now? Yesterday I spent a long while asking questions to a rep from Seven Seas Worldwide. He said that 85% of packages are opened and inspected at arrival. Anything newer than 6 months in their view is seen as something to tax. He asked me to ensure I put only used clothes. That would be interesting for wedding clothes which by definition must be immaculate at arrival. Anyways, I am concerned about what can I send safely. I have two full frame cameras, one will fly with me, but the other and all the lenses and tripod will travel in my removal boxes. My tripod is 4 years old but looks new, I am probably adding my invoices inside but I am feeling worried about hidden charges if they think items are less than 6 months old (they are 100% not!). I also worry about vitamins and supplements, of which I have some 10 small boxes (you know, the monthly ones) and they ask to bring only prescription medication? Any suggestions would be great...thanks and I hope you are enjoying your new life there....
  12. They do but they are also very expensive. I will look for united airlines too as this is mostly what my boyfriend has used. i am curious to see how we will make all this happen - my boxes cannot arrive until I am there and I don’t have a ticket yet as completion for house sale is not on a specific date one can forecast.
  13. Thank you! Yes I did say my visa because (as I said in previous posts) it was mine and not hers that was having delays. the medical wasted two months by requiring a tuberculosis lab test for a non existent lung condition. i will now search for return flights instead!
  14. hi there! With my lab tests sorted and a couple more documents almost here, my VISA is about to show up in April. So this is a good time to look again at flights for me and my daughter and to see pricing of boxes. I think that after reading the packaging guides from 2019 on this forum Trans Global Express is the best and cheapest. However I am totally confused with their system for quotes and I will have to get into a chat with them. Last year I was able to get a quote but now I am only getting a dimmed page with random numbers. Strange. I am thinking of moving only 20 boxes or so, due to the cost being on average £75 or more each (quote from 2023). Now a quick look at Google flight showed me that If I traveled this week I would be paying £200 to fly to the USA. However in June we are talking about minimum £800 each. We can't move until my daughter's GCSEs (May 23rd) and also my house sale must be completed if possible so I won't have issues with last minute pull outs etc. If you have any suggestions re. couriers and flights, I am open to listen to everyone. I will be bringing documents, clothes, no furniture or heavy items, photographs etc. I cannot put all the important stuff in a single suitcase. I also have 2 full frame cameras - they are heavy and expensive and I don't dare putting them in a ship for 2 months. thanks for your suggestions!
  15. I think so, the only original they asked for were certificates, criminal records ètc.
  16. I Had mine two days ago. You are standing in a booth and see the officer through a glass with some space where to pass documents. Your DS 160 has already been seen by every other officer but this last one will still ask for it. he will also ask you in order for many documents such as the tax red turn, police certificate ètc. i was there with a large bunch of documents but he asked for a fraction of what was in the list. i was then directed to sit and wait for another officer. after a while I saw her, and she again asked me for documents, told me that I was supposed to being my fiancée’s documents too, which I didn’t know (divorce in original) and asked me for my original police certificate, of which I only had a certified copy, which she refused. i am pretty sure they saw all they wanted at different stages. Also, there is no point in arguing with them that ‘the letter said this, or the website said that’, as they are not interested. I brought lots more proof of income just in case but it was not needed.
  17. Okay I now have an update which might be useful for others in the future. this morning I received a call from DX. I don’t know if they called me because I sent a pleading message to them yesterday, or because on the embassy website, under courier, I pressed SEND documents two days ago, so now they got in touch. The officer explained that the strange name that appeared in my invoice is a company that works with DX for the embassy. So their location does not matter because I just drop my documents to any DX in my area. So that was great news and I have not lost £42. She explained that all I need to do is to print the instructions and authorisation I found in the website when I pressed SEND, and take them with me. however, when I went to the embassy site, under my Status which is SEND, I was no longer able to retrieve or see anywhere those instructions which I remember were in a particular layout and maybe had barcodes. what I did a couple of days ago, I was on a call with my boyfriend and he asked me to go press that button (SEND) so I would get the instructions. at that point the page appears with lots of bold text. I copied and pasted all the text into a Pages document ‘just in case’. I then closed the website page. i didn’t realise that after closing it I was going to lose my only chance to view the instructions in the original format and I cannot remember exactly what was there. my plan now is to read the instructions super carefully because they do ask to specifically print only certain pages, which do not correspond in number to the pages on the A4 Pages document, if it makes sense. so if any of you has already done this, do you remember if the pages to take to the couriers had some bars, QR codes or similar? In which case I am in trouble again 😂 Thanks!
  18. you are right, my issue is now how to cancel the older courier that I signed up with (which is 3 hours away from my home town) so I don't pay twice. The Norwich one, yes I can just show up, half an hour trip is doable. I like your sensible thinking!
  19. most certainly. I called months ago and nobody had a clue of the embassy, They passed me from person to person and there is only a central number for the whole nation, what a joke! If I don't hear by next week I will be driving there and asking many questions...
  20. Sooo....I chose the passport return from their website months ago. It was 100% DX. But the INVOICE I received states a different name (Maybe they operate under subcontracting with DX). Now my visa was technically refused (approved pending doing something) because I need to provide 3 documents. So now I came back to the realisation that my chosen courier is miles away. In their email asking me for further documents they state 'Courier: DX Group' and in their information they state, ' This certificate authorizes [name] to use the designated CSRA courier to deliver supporting visa application documents to the United States London Consulate free of charge. This certificate is valid at a limited number of DX Group locations. Please refer to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv/information/courier for a list of DX Group locations that will accept this certificate. Applicants or third parties can go to any of the DX authorized drop-off locations and drop their documents at no cost.' Now when I checked the embassy site there is NO INFO on which one will authorise this. Instructions; gather documents, then Travel to one of our authorized courier locations. 3. Place your visa applications documents and the second page of this certificate into a courier envelope 4. Present the first page of this document along with the envelope to the courier agent. At this point I am more confused. I cannot tell if my local DX will accept this. I sent a message this morning and they have not responded.
  21. see, that is my issue, I most certainly got the courier from the embassy site. And then I received an invoice from a strange company name. I will now go to see if there is anyway of changing the courier straight from the embassy site. For example if I moved from London to Scotland during the visa process, I could not be expected to drive to London just to give a document?
  22. When I first registered with the Embassy they presented me with a small list of couriers. The one in Norwich was not found anywhere and when I tried to call every single company with that name or similar, including DX they had NO CLUE of what I was talking about when I mentioned embassy and passports (Despite them being clearly advertised as a service on their homepage) So out of desperation I opted for a random courier from the embassy site and clicked on them, paid extra for collection as they were 3 hours away and sat there wondering why no courier is available in my area. The courier I chose, sent me an invoice under the name 'Information Services Consulting Ltd. They are 3 Horus away and after a long search today I found out they are a legal entity with no website, nor email or contact number. So I just arranged a sign- for tracked letter to be delivered in 24 hours to them, so I can communicate about having a refund as I won't be using their service. Italy comes into this as I am Italian and I have lived for well over 6 months there. The embassy wants a police certificate for each country where we have lived for 6 + months. I hope this makes sense now, sorry! I have since sent an email to the Italian police offices who deal with certificates, and a text message to the Norwich DX. I will now go to the Embassy site to see if by any means I can change courier from there. My hope was that since DX is nation wide they should simply switch office and keep the payment. But as the invoice came from a different name, this is confusing and I wonder if they subcontract other people (they often use other companies to deliver)
  23. yes, I have now written a letter to my previous courier to try to get a refund. And I will talk to this new one and see if the embassy accepts the change. meanwhile I sent an email to the Italian office to get precise instructions on how much to pay and where as things can go wrong with international mail. What a day... I will be chatting with DX - but when I did before (not sure which website, it was November) nobody had a clue of what I was talking about.
