Hello all,

My friend has her interview in Bucharest Romania on December 30th. Our plan was for her to visit  me in Atlanta in early January.

She found an agency and "supposedly" they helped her fill out the forms. But she sent me this and now I am concerned:

Travel Information
The List of Purposes of Trip to the U.S.
Purpose of Trip to the U.S. (1): TEMP. BUSINESS OR PLEASURE VISITOR (B)
Specify: BUSINESS OR TOURISM (TEMPORARY VISITOR)

(B1/B2)
Have you made specific travel plans? YES
Provide a complete itinerary for your travel to the U.S.:
Date of Arrival in U.S.: 01 MAY 2026
Arrival City: NEW YORK
Date of Departure from U.S.: 12 MAY 2026
Address where you will stay in the U.S.: 133 GREENWICH ST
City, State, Postal/Zip Code: NEW YORK, NEW YORK 10006

I have no idea why they put New York. Are the listed Specific travel plans "set in stone" or does the officer know this is a guess/approximation? There is no reason for her to go to NY.

Thanks for any advice.....

She can expect a denial after questioning by the Consulate Officer.  This could be seen, by the officer, as either sloppiness or misrepresentation.    The agency might be trying to hide the real purpose of her visit....to visit her significant other.  Destination, date are inconsistent with what you said about the visit.

Not sure how many Russians get a visa to visit USC bf.

Why did she use an agency?

Don't buy tickets until visa is in hand but don't expect it to be approved.

@Boiler She was nervous and felt like she needed guidance through the whole process. She sprung it on me after she paid them and completed the forms. Wasn't too happy about this.

@Crazy Cat  I think you are 100%. Hiding that she is coming to visit her significant other.

@PGA  yes, agree about that address and suspicousness

I just wrote to the agency (which could be pointless) asking about why they suggested/did this.

Purpose of visit, it's either business or pleasure, need to choose one.

Specify, again, both are shown. It's one or the other.

Have you made specific plans? Yes. Then there is no actual detail where it asks for itinerary. I've seen accounts of people denied on lack of itinerary alone.

Is she paying for her trip herself? I somehow doubt it given your post history. If not, that's misrep bc she says she is.

Wil she be staying with you? Pretty clear that the address listed isn't remotely where she will be staying, so that is also misrep, whether she's staying with you or not.

Very likely IO will ask about plans for NY, given that's where it says she will be. If she answers that with anything suggesting she will be in NY then it immediately becomes a serious case of misrep.

She either resubmits form with truthful info and pays another fee, or she very likely faces denial and has to resubmit anyway. Leaving it as is isn't going to net a positive result for either of you.

Yet another reason to not use an agency.

Thanks all for the input!

@smilingstone  I am thinking this is the best idea. But now with the recent law changes, she will have to go to a designated embassy (Warsaw) for the interview (will check scheduling times). She filed a while ago before this change (where she could choose Bucharest).     Sounds like a new filing/pay fee with honesty on the forms and a new interview date is the best way to proceed.....
