In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

TD is most likely the easiest route, well I think it is called USMCA. Canada is a points based system otherwise so if you qualify absolutely. Younger you are the more you are qualified, speak French?

stepdaugher married Canadian and moved there thru the marriage

Many live on the border and cross just for work 

but to stay and live as permanent resident , it is explained on the following site

As mentioned above, you will need to go through the visa process to enter Canada, the same as a foreigner needs one to enter the US.  Which visa type will depend on the circumstances by which you'd qualify to enter Canada.  

 

USMCA visa (TN equivalent for Canadians who work in the US) may work if you are able to secure employment in Canada in an eligible field that meets the requirements. If you are in one of those fields, does your current employer have a Canadian division that you could transfer with?
