it is not run by USCIS in any capacity, but it does use USCIS statistics to generate it's estimations.

the only benefit it has is to give you a general idea of how USCIS is processing cases and how long it is taking. but other than that? not really

my husband (fiance at the time) used it for just the 3 day free trial and it had given us an estimate of about a month until we had a decision. I believe we got the approval a few days later (within the 3 day free trial coincidentally lol)

I used that service during my I-129F processing, and paid the monthly subscription.

I can't recall now the exact estimate it gave me, but I can remember it was close (within a month or so). Others report it being way off.

For me, I liked it because it helped me somewhat plan out my own rough timeline for medical, interview and moving, as well as seeing numbers going down. That just helped me personally keep in a good headspace during the wait. I could see that USCIS completely skipped over my filing week, and even though that wasn't nice to see, it at least gave me some insight into our processing. Though, in reality, there's no reason for anyone to pay for this as it doesn't provide any concrete answers and you're still at the behest of USCIS' speeds.

It really just depends on if you will get any personal value/comfort out of paying monthly to see your number go down in a queue, while understanding that it isn't 100% accurate.

There are free alternatives out there, so you don't have to pay any service.

Even if you see progress of your case, no service can give you accurate estimate as to how long your case will take to get adjudicated, not even MyProgress on USCIS website itself.

Where Visa Journey monthly threads shine is detail. Case trackers only give you dry statistics, but VJ users also share their personal experiences, specifics of their case and immigration history which often affects how quickly cases get processed.

Good luck!

Ours was all over the place. We submitted our i129f in late august and at first it was telling us an estimate for december 2024. Then we got sent to march/april 2025, then later I think we had february/march, and finally we received the NOA2 on January 31st.

But it was still kind of a comfort. I think if I were to do it again I would do a free week or whatever after the NOA2 and then wait until a month or two before the first estimate and pay for a bit.
