I was gonna wait, but, hell, why not...

Only for those that vote, mind. Lurkers can ####### off and get their own. There, I've said it.

A story:

We went to the Krispy Kreme store in Seattle one night...it was near the end of a Mariner's game (which we did not attend) and the store was at that moment cranking out the gooey goodness that is Diabetic Coma Donut. As we walked in, cold, tired, hungry....a worker handed each of us a free, hot, fresh Krispy Kreme. My darling took his donut and said "America is the greatest country in the world."

The end.

And btw, after 2 advanced degrees in English and a teaching post for the last 9 years, I'd like to know....what IS the definition of irony?

Irony is a form of utterance that postulates a double audience, consisting of one party that hearing shall hear & shall not understand, & another party that, when more is meant than meets the ear, is aware both of that more & of the outsiders’ incomprehension.

Irony threatens authoritative models of discourse by "removing the semantic security of ‘one signifier : one signified’"; irony has some of its foundation in the onlooker’s perception of paradox which arises from insoluble problems.

So that clears that up, then.

I thought it was a black fly in your chardonnay

Funny thing. Wanted to make a sandwich last night. Went to the silverware drawer to get me a cutting implement. What did I find? 10,000 bloody spoons. Couldn't help thinking to myself, "Well, isn't that... the biggest silverware drawer. Ever."

Now that you mention it, unbeknownst to all, I have been posting from Death Row for a crime I did not commit. I got my execution order last night. Meanwhile up in Sacremento, Arnie realized this gross miscarriage of justice and demanded I be pardoned. Unfortunately, it was 2 minutes too late. Which was......well, it meant I was dead. Coincidentally, I won the lottery only the day before.

Heh, after I gave the shuttle driver a buck and sat down, a big sign that said, "Free Shuttle Service" stared right back at me. I was too embarassed to ask him for my dollar back.
