Hello my friends,

I filed vawa in 2017, approved in 2021;

received GC in 2022 without an interview.

Last week had an interview for the naturalization - passed English and everything, BUT decision cannot made.

Today got the notification I was scheduled for another interview in July. I know it’s not good, question is: how BAD it can be? Do I need a lawyer at the interview? Can I be deported on a spot? Sandra please 🙏

Sorry to hear that. How do you know it is not a good?

I think probably they forget to collect some thing from you? Did you receive the second interview notice? have you tried to calling them?

It is not good indeed. Very few get two interviews.

@melissa.w I would hire an attorney if you can. Walking into second interview without one is risky!

You are right 👍

It's very rare to have two interviews for citizenship.

I think that something pups up and they need some clarifications.

Lawyer in this case is advisable for it will avoid the officer for asking certain types of damaging questions.

They are not suppose to ask you anything related to VAWA. Technically you should expect Yes/NO questions from form i-485.

However, you never know they might ask you question related to abuse and abuser spouse. You have all the right to ask for the supervisor if they ask anything related to VAWA.

Generally, they will go through your form I-485 to verify if there are any mistake that you will like to be corrected and the Yes/No questions as @balo101 has said.

Wishing you a very good outcome 🙏

We are obviously in intense need of our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

=====================================

WHAT YOU'RE ENTITLED TO

Airman Jones was assigned to the induction center where he was to advise new recruits about their government benefits, especially their GI insurance.

It wasn't long before Captain Smith noticed that Airman Jones had a nearly 100% record for insurance sales, which had never happened before.

Rather than ask about this, the Captain stood in the back of the room and listened to Jones' sales pitch.  Jones explained the basics of the GI Insurance to the new recruits, and then said, "If you have GI Insurance and go into battle and are killed, the government has to pay $200,000 to your beneficiaries.  If you don't have GI insurance, and you go into battle and get killed, the government has to pay only a maximum of $6,000."

"Now," he concluded, "Which bunch do you think they are going to send into battle first?"

:P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It is already time (and necessary) for our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================
ASSIGNING BLAME

A merchant captain and several of his officers were returning to the ship, completely drunk, after a big evening ashore.

As they climbed the gangway, the captain threw up all over himself.  Pointing to an apprentice seaman above him, he shouted, "Give that man five days in the brig for vomiting!"

The next morning, the captain was checking the log, and he saw that the young seaman had been sentenced to ten days instead of five.  He asked the chief mate why.

"Well, sir, when we got you undressed, we found that he had also pooped in your pants."

Hello

I also applied in may 2022 till now only status is

case was received

I got work permit

did you receive any rfe

Hey, hi! That question was not for me but for someone I saw on a Fb group. For me, I filed in March-2022 and has not received any RFE yet. Hopefully my I-360 gets approved soon without a RFE.

I do have one question: I had 7 months unlawful presence before I filed my original application. But my I-360 and I-485 are still pending (and I have I-765 & I-131 approved for 5 years, about to expire in 2029). I am aware of the current situation in the country. If ICE encounters me, can they still detain me even if my I-360 & I-485 are pending but because I had 8 months unlawful presence before filing the application?

What do you think, family? @Demise @balo101 @Rhema1 @Pinkrlion @Sandra G. @TBoneTX

Thanks!

Hi

If I may asked;

Which EAD category do you have?

But with a pending i-485 and a ( C09 ) working permit, I don't see ICE agents deporting someone unless he or she has a terrible criminal history.
