It is Wednesday!  Time for our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

===========================================
CUSTOMER SERVICE

A store manager overheard a clerk saying to a customer, "No, ma'am; we haven't had any for quite some time now, and it doesn't look as if we'll be getting any more."

Angered by what he'd heard, the manager rushed over to the customer who was walking out the door and said, "That isn't true, ma'am.  Of course we'll have some soon.  In fact, I personally placed an order for them just a couple of days ago."

The manager then pulled the clerk aside and growled, "Never, never, NEVER say we don't have something.  If we don't have it, say we ordered it and it's on its way.  Now, what was the customer asking about?"

"Poisonous spiders in the fruit department."

:P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

Hello VJ family @Demise @Sandra G.did file expedite request for my i290B, I485 and i601 with senator office, it was denied. What does it mean a duplicate of was sent with a denial letter while i290 b and i601 are pending?

Thank you for your letter inquiring about the case status of *****  regarding a request for expedited processing for Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

During Removal Proceedings, your constituent was instructed by the court to file their application with the Texas Service Center (TSC) and to provide the court with a copy of the receipt notice (Form I-797). Such applications are filed at the Service Center for data entry purposes only, and so that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can later capture biometric information. The Service Center has no jurisdiction over these applications.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicate that your constituent's Form I-485 was denied by the Kansas City Field Office on March 23, 2023, with the denial notice mailed to your constituent and the attorney on record on March 28, 2023.

* On May 9, 2025, a duplicate notice was mailed to the address on record: ******. As a courtesy, a copy of the denial is attached.

RE: IOE****** (Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion)

USCIS records indicate that your constituent's Form I-290B is assigned to an officer at the ****FIELD OFFICE.

RE: EAC****(Form I-601, APPLICATION FOR WAIVER OF GROUNDS OF INADMISSIBILITY)

USCIS records indicate your constituent's Form I-601 was recently transferred to the TEXAS SERVICE CENTER (TSC/SSC). An email has been sent to the unit asking if the case may be placed with an officer.

Your constituent did not submit corroborating evidence to support their statement made in the Privacy Release. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is unable to make a determination based on what has been provided. The expedite criteria is available on the USCIS website at www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria.

Therefore, the request for expedite processing is not granted at this time. Although your constituent's request for expedited processing cannot be granted at this time, USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in a timely manner and gives every applicant or petitioner full and fair consideration consistent with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.

This closes your inquiry with USCIS. We hope this information is helpful. If we may be of further assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Susan

So here's the jist of it all:

Internally the I-485 stays denied until an I-290B is approved, where the I-485 will be reopened and re-adjudicated.

I-290B is currently pending.

I-601 is waiting in queue to be assigned, they weren't able to rule on expediting it because you didn't include evidence with the privacy release you sent to your senator.

So if you want to follow up on this, you want to include proofs for whatever reasons you asked for an expedite and ask the senator to request an expedite on the I-601 again.

It is Sunday, and time for our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke (appropriate for a Sunday!):

CONFESSIONAL

A man went into the confessional box at church.  On one wall, he found a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap.  On the other wall was a dazzling array of the finest Cuban cigars.  Then, the priest came in.

The man said, "Father, forgive me, for it's been a long time since I've been to confession, but I must say that the confessional box is much more inviting these days."

"Get out!" said the priest.  "You're on MY side of it!"

This means they sent you another copy of the I-485 denial notice. Your I-290B is still pending, and they have decided not to expedite your I-601.

SEEN ON T-SHIRTS

You are not immune to demonic influence.

If I died and went straight to Hell, it would take me a week to realize I wasn't at work anymore.

It's too people-y outside..

I can't walk on water, but I can stagger on beer.

I'm so poor, I can't even pay attention.

I don't need Google -- my wife knows everything.

No one is ugly at 2:00 AM.

TWO MEN AND THEIR CAMERAS

Two guys in their semiprivate hospital room were having a little chat.

The first guy asked the second, "What are you in for?"

"Camera down the throat," the second guy replied.

"Oh, endoscopy?" the first guy asked.

The second guy said, "Yeah.  Checking for stomach cancer.  How about you?"

"Camera up the butt," the first guy said.

"Oh, colonoscopy, checking for bowel cancer?" asked the second guy.

"No; my female neighbor was sunbathing and my wife caught me taking a photo."

Never before in VAWA-Thread history have we gone directly from Wednesday to Sunday to Wednesday with jokes!  Here is our Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke (I like the 6th & 7th ones):

===========================================
HILARIOUS THOUGHTS

Nothing refreshes my memory of what I need at the grocery store like coming home from it.

My back and I are not the same age.

Ironing boards are surfboards that gave up on their dreams and got a real job.

3,025 years from today, life will either be really good or bad.  It's 5050.

Being an adult is a little out of my price range right now.

They said to follow your dreams, so I went back to bed.

One day, I'll solve my problems with maturity.  Today, it will be tacos.

Why do sharks live in salt water?  Because pepper water makes them sneeze.

There should be confetti in tires so when there's a blowout, it's still kind of an OK day.

I'm at a point where I don't even know the point I'm at, but I am at a point.

Age is not a number.  It's clearly a word.

This heat would be bearable if someone misted me like produce every 20 minutes.

What kind of shoes do chickens wear?  Reebok bok boks.

Irony:  The opposite of wrinkly.

My patience is like a gift card.  Not sure how much is left, but we can give it a try.

I hate when I wake up tired.  It's like, what did I even go to sleep for?

I'm losing my mind!  But, as long as I keep the part that tells me when I need to pee, I should be OK.
