Dear all,

Do you know which documents USCIS would accept as proof of custody?

I am thinking overseas orders and address registration, bank statements addressed to the same address as myself? I don’t want to be in the situation in which they request documents we don’t have on us…

Court Order

Just due to language differences and for clarity purposes, custody of what, exactly?  If it's a child, a court order is necessary.

Sorry, it’s for the N-600 and there is no court order in Germany for custody as it is determined by “habit”. Meaning the kids always lived with me and the only one who could challenge this in court and by doing so generate a court order, is their biological father. But he never did. In absence of a custody agreement, can I just show proof the kids reside with and have so for the past 15 years?

The US Consulate, for instance, accepts their registration as a form of custody. Everyone living in Germany needs to be registered with their current address. We always shared the same address.

Both kids have their US passports and u want the N600 for anything that could come up in the future?

Yes, that is exactly the reason. Who knows if the kids will be asked to provide further evidence but can not recall or have no longer access to all the documents I am keeping. And what happens if I should pass away?

If they have their passports, what was used in the absence of the father or did he sign a DS-3053?
