Wifes renewed green card is in maiden name and not married.

hello all it has been several years since i have been on the site.

Just recently we filed for the renewal of my wife's green card. Filled out the I-90 and jumped through all the hoops. It was a quick return and approval. The problem is, they put her maiden name and not her married one. When we did her biometrics, we showed her license and our marriage license. They assured us that everything was in order. Well today we got it in the mail and it's in her maiden name and not married. What can we do? Beside for refiling and spending money on another I-90?

Your VJ timeline is incomplete, but presumably she had the 10-year card and you applied for its renewal.

 -- Was the first 10-year card in her married name?  If not, why not?

 -- You "showed her license and our marriage license" -- driver's license?

 

If the first 10-year card was in her married name and the new one is not, someone at USCIS screwed up.  If it's USCIS's error, you don't have to pay for a corrected replacement card.  Send the wrong one back with an I-90.

 

You might want to consult your U.S. Congressman's office to learn whether they have a specific office or contact at USCIS that can streamline the correction and replacement.

yea it's been a while since last time on here. sadly, I must have decided that I didn't need to finish the profile, again it was a long time ago.

 

yes, her driver's license. and even offered her old green card.

 

yes, her old green card was in her married name.

 

I will call my U.S. Congressman's office...

Did she fill out all the forms in her married name? If she did then you may be able to fix it with submitting the I-90 form to correct it at their cost as it was their error.

this Question has bothered her since we got the renewed green card back, she is not sure if she put the right answer in. But she did file it out in her married name. if we were to refile the I-90 again, do we also put a note stating that the renewed green card was made wrong?

If her two year GC was in her married name then for sure they screwed up.
