Advice on transitioning to an employer with no H-1B sponsorship history

Hello! I'm currently on an H-1B visa (valid until 2025), sponsored by Employer A. I received a job offer from Employer B, but they have never sponsored H-1B visas before. Is there a scenario where I can get them to sponsor my visa? They seem to be open to working with a law firm, but I am generally concerned given they have no history or experience sponsoring visas. Are there any risks involved? I am also concerned about how long the process is going to take if they start now. Any insights or experiences in similar situations would be greatly appreciated!
If it matters, I also have an approved I-140 with a 2018 priority date.

Most companies use Lawyers, the big ones might have Lawyers in house.

 

The red flag arises where they do not have any internal resources and refuse to use a Lawyer.

employer not knowing h1b is not new. make sure the lawyer they hire knows to do H1b. 

 

H1b transfer can be quick as you can work with new employer B once H1b filing receipt is recived. to be sure you can ask employer B to file H1b premium that will get you a decision in 2 weeks

OP: new employers, especially if they're cap exempt, may not be able / willing to cover that fee. Thankfully you do not need a second approval for employment to begin, but if you have any international travel planned, then you should be ready to pay it if they are not willing.

 

H-1Bs are straightforward outside of the lottery, so if they're a cap exempt employer, and you need assistance, please reach out :) It's my day job!
