Mini-B. dressed as a zombie and went out with his mom to meet his friends.

 

At 6 p.m., I parked on a chair just inside the open garage, for easy disbursement of goodies and to keep Cat T-B. inside.  Weather was clear, very cold (mid-50s), and breezy.  I had a book to keep myself occupied.

 

Fewer houses on our street had lights on than I'd ever seen, even during the pandemic.

 

Goodies were snack-sized Hershey milk chocolate (80-bar bag from Costco, $9.99) and some Colombian chocolate lollipops (Tootsie Roll-type) from Ecuador that I found.  I found it interesting that the latter were very slightly more popular than the former.

 

First trickle began at around 6:30.  No unbroken waves of kids.  Almost no one said "trick or treat."  Slightly fewer visitors overall than usual.  Fewer than half said "thank you."  Everyone but one kid took only one or two treats maximum, despite my urging.  Only one group of older (hyskool-aged) kids, and they were most polite of all.  I finally met some really personable neighbors whom I'd always waved to; they brought their toddler boy out for his first Hallowe'en, dressed as a little elephant.

 

Mini-B. had fun and returned with a large haul.  Am hoping that he'll restrain himself tonight so that his sugar buzz will be minor enough to enable sleep.

 

I ate only 4 Hershey bars myself, finding it difficult to juggle them while I tried to read my book.

 

In summary, I wish that there'd been more traffic, but it was OK considering how few houses on the street were open for business.  The good news is that more than half the bag of Hershey bars is left for me -- slurrrrrrp.

I wondered why you would post this in here.Then you made it all wonky  

 

We don't ToT in our area, not worth the time to walk all the streets for 3 houses if we're lucky and then they only give 1 tiny little thing. 

 

We went out to a friends area, lots of kids. I think the cold kept many inside, as there weren't as many as last year. Not as many houses either but still plenty giving out candy. The Tornado was a Vampire and the Jedi well he became a Mandalorian. 

 

Mommy froze, came home and has been dealing with charlie horses all night. Being allergic to cold sucks.

My wife is allergic to cold as well as she is from Siberia.

Got back from overseas late middle of last week and planned to go to Key West for Fantasy Fest (adult Halloween) but it was just too much.  Seems we got COVID in Istanbul and are still suffering fatigue along with dealing with the time change.  

 

Kept the lights off at home and as usual, no kids came buy.  Didn't have anything to give out anyway.

 

Today finally feeling a little better, but had quite a coughing spell last night. 

 

It has really cooled off here.  Early afternoon and it is only 78.  Was supposed to get into the low 80's.  I'll take it.

Yes, but this Canadian would have better clothes for the cold up in Canada. Plus I also have kids all four would be out there shoveling

Not a single doctor I saw in Canada told me what it was. It wasn't until I saw the allergist here in Arkansas. He thought it was really weird they didn't tell me as it can be quite serious when the hives start and your blood pressure drops. He said I could go into hyperthermia a lot easier than the average Joe. It was is really uncomfortable and painful when the charlie horses start too. I stayed inside a lot. Still do in the winters in Arkansas. Everyone thinks I'm nuts for liking the heat. I sit out there all day if I could. I guess I just haven't warmed up yet
