Hi All - I am based in Houston. Submitted N400 in August. Has anyone naturalized recently and knows the processing time for the Houston office and the time from N400 submittal to getting citizenship?

USCIS is showing 7.5 months for 80% of cases, N-400, Houston:

We're Houston based.

Take a look at our timeline.

From the time that we filed my wife's N400 to when she did the oath ceremony it took just over 4 months.

It took only 3.5 months to get an interview from the point that we submitted the N400.

Wow. That is fast. I will be filing in late November. Are they expediting it faster due to elections in 2024 so we have a chance to vote?

Huh? Wrong.

We filed the N-400 in 2023. On 1-4-2023 to be exact.

You need to look at our timeline more carefully.

We filed right at the tail end of the pandemic so it should be moving even faster now than it did then. Of course, there are a lot of different variables that could effect the process (country of origin, provided documents, how well you do your due diligence, etc.).

Amazing how Houston has improved - hopefully your experience is indicative of where Houston is at now with all N400 submissions. Previously it was one of the slowest in the country especially during the pandemic. I applied in March 2020 right at the beginning of the first shut down and was not interviewed until June 2021…

For November filers do you think a decision will come before voting deadline?

Going by the trend of recent applicants in Houston, there is high probability that a decision will be made before the registration deadline.

To register to vote in Texas, simply complete a voter registration application and return it to your county election office at least 30 days before the upcoming election date.
