Hello!

My fiancée and I are confused about when or how we get the medical interview before the actual consulate interview.

We're reading it's before, but we are told we can schedule with the embassy right now.

Can someone give us a timeline for when we get our date? Or do we schedule it on our own?

That is the website to book your medical. The medical has to be completed before you for your consulate interview.
The instructions on the website I linked above is very clear.
if you have received your case number (or K1-FTP) from NVC and your status on the ceac website says READY, then you can go ahead and book the medical.

NOTE: Read and follow the instructions for the medical and you will be fine.
Good luck

Once your CEAC case status shows "Ready", submit the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and book the K1 interview.  Once you have the interview schedule, book the medical at SLEC.

Book your medical appointment 3-4 days before your interview appointment to give it time to get to them.

My fiancé completed her medical today. They gave her a sealed packet and a CD containing her x-ray to take to her interview.

The sealed package is all they need.  The CD is for your personal records.

Yes. I wasn’t clear with my post. I have heard differing stories as to whether the clinic sends the results to the embassy or they give a packet to the beneficiary. In our case, we got a packet.

Heh heh. CDs. The cutting edge of medical technology. We don’t even own a computer with a CD drive anymore.

For CR/IR spouse and family  Visas the medicals are all transmitted electronically.  K1 is still old-school.
