The 2017 naturalization review was scheduled for 9am. If yours is scheduled for 8 and you arrive at 7:30 I see you being done by 8:45.... 

But, not sure if they changed the way they schedule interviews...

I wholeheartedly understand. But I teach Spanish, and getting a sub that speaks Spanish is hard. And if I don’t, I have to think of cultural lesson plans. So skipping work is actually more work for me. Hope it makes sense.

Oh I have been asking Emma left and right to see their supervisor. Surprisingly after that I always got disconnected. 😂

Surely that is a technical issue. At a USCIS field office, I am confident your inner Karen will get different results.

…. And just like that, I’m one step closer to the end! 
 

Interview was today at 8:00 am at the USCIS Columbus Field Office. We went with my husband, but at first the officer only called me in. 
I had a few corrections/ update to make, so before I was sworn in I let him know of this. He said it was ok, not a problem. So he swore me in, then started with the civics test: 

 

- What did MLK junior do?

- What are two US national holidays?

- two political parties

- why did the colonists fight the British?

- Name one tribe

 

Forgot the other question. 
The reading was: who elects Congress?

Writing: People elect Congress. 
 

Then we went on to the application. I made the changes / updates. 
For the weapons training question, I marked “yes” because I own a gun, which my husband has been teaching me to use. I explained this, he changed the question to “no” and he added “informal”. 
 

After I was done, he called my husband in, asked him when we got married, my full name, my DOB, his marital status. And that was it! He printed off the paper recommending me for approval on the spot. 
It felt more like a casual conversation, he was professional but friendly. 
 

Funny note: he asked me how long 751s are taking because officer’s wife has a pending one! 😂😂😂

Congratulations!!!!  A piece of cake!!!!   There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!!

The officer said about 6 weeks from now. He said it takes a month to receive the Oath letter, and then 1-2 weeks until the Oath date. So around October I'd say. 

 

Hopefully by Thanksgiving I'll be a citizen!
