How long will I wait after 'waiver' interview

Morning All,

I have been to the American Embassy in London and had an interview to renew my waiver visa. I had a conviction 20 years ago.

My last application was successful first time and I received a 5 year visa, and I was told this time that they would recommend that it was renewed.

I was handed back my Passport and Docs and told that they would be in touch once it had been considered.

I seem to remember this being the case before - but cant remember the process or how long it takes - can anyone help

Cheers

Morning All,

I have been interviewed at the American Embassy for a renewal of my Visa Waiver and told that it would be recommended to be renewed.

I was handed back my Passport and understand that my application along with the recommendation goes to Homeland Security, they assess and then once passed the American Embassy requests my passport and the Visa is put in.

I was interviewed about 4 weeks ago - am I right in my assumptions (I cant remember process from last time accurately but believe this is it ) and is there anyway to check progress ?

Thankyou

You can ask the Consulate but obviously far too early now.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Good reminder for everyone to watch their spam folders in case something from USCIS or the embassy/consulate winds up in there.

I was like you - getting nervous, wondering why it was taking so long, etc - then, out of the blue, it arrived.

The turnaround from sending my passport back for the visa was really quick - less than a week

But equally, you have 3 months after approval to send your passport back for the visa, so if it is tight, maybe go to Greece first, then send it in.

Thanks so much , very helpful indeed, can I ask how you know it’s three months? Is that in the email you get? Feel much better knowing I can go away and still ( fingers crossed ) get my visa.

thanks again

Thanks again for the help, would love to know the exact timeframe just to put mine and my girlfriends' minds at rest, but good to know it could be few months before I need to send it back.

So happy I found this forum!!

I will keep you posted don't worry.

John
