As long as your considered legal to marry age doesn't matter at all. But if your under 18 you may need permission from your parents. A significant age gap may be an issue in some places.

Age doesn't mean owt..but if there is a huge difference, it just may be looked at more closely. I'm 31 and my fiance will be 42 in October..so there's 11 years between us ...but I agree...you have to be legal according to the United States terms...and I know in the UK, legality wise...it's different

i believe you have to be 18 years old (and a US citizen) to file the petition for US immigration. i dont think you can file if you are under that. even with parental consent and co-sponsors. I dont know about other countries.

Nope, the only mention of age is that both parties must either be old enough to legally marry in the intended jurisdiction or have the necessary permissions to do so.

I do suspect that for adjustment of status, an I-864 would have to be signed by somebody legally old enough to sign a contract.

Beyond that, you better beleive a large age difference has an impact on the scrutiny of bona fides, particularly if the woman is older. Also if the USC is relatively poor and the foreigner well to do. In high fraud countries you can magnify that significantly.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Eh, I'm turning 24 next February and that didn't seem to make a difference in them giving me an NOA2.

Age isn't heavily considered in the adjudication process - what does matter is that the relationship is valid, which is much more important to them.

I'm 23 and my fiance (the USC) is 20. He was 19 when we filed the petition. No approval yet, but there are other young-ish couples here on VJ that seem to have had no problems. From what I gather, a large age gap is more of a concern than being young and in love.

basically yea, it means that your case has been updated online...once you get your case # you can check this on the uscis website...if the 'last updated' date has been changed since the last time you viewed it, that means that you have been 'touched' and someone has done something with your petition

btw im 22 and my fiance is 23 (will be 24 next week)...i definitely do not think it is an issue as far as this visa is concerned

I think it's all in how you present your case (relationship). There are some redflags in large age gaps, but it seems to be only an issue if the woman is the foreigner and much older and/or wealthier. Usually if the man is the USC and he is a bit older than the woman, its looked at as normal in this journey. Just what I've noticed. As stated before by Pushbrk. Jakey, how old or young are you? if I may ask. Be careful how you present yourself to and your relationship to the officials. I truly don't want to offend, but you probably dont want to correspond wiff dose peeps dis way. Especially if you had to submit anything written as attachments or in a cover letter. Knowwhatimean? It just screams out..."hey! I'm a minor". just trying to help you out a little. Good luck.
