Adding a family member to existing visa appointment?

We are currently facing a medical emergency involving my wife, and it is crucial that we receive immediate family support. Initially, we applied for a B2 visa for my wife's mother and were granted an emergency appointment for next week. However, we now find that my wife's father also wishes to come and provide assistance. Unfortunately, we cannot add him as a family member to the mother's existing appointment since she already has one scheduled.
We have already completed a DS-160 form for my wife's father and have paid the associated fees. Our current concern is how to proceed in order to have both of them attend the visa interview simultaneously, citing the same medical emergency reason. One option we are considering is canceling the mother's current appointment and creating a new application using the same fee receipt, with the intention of adding the father to the new appointment. Would that be possible? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. We called US travel docs/ US embassy customer service but they were not able to provide any helpful information.

Father should apply for an emergency appointment the same way mother did.

So, if we cancel the mother's current appointment, will we lose her emergency appointment approval?

We were thinking of canceling the mother's appointment, add her to father's new appointment and from there submit emergency request for both of them. Would that increase their chances of getting the visa? Or it doesn't really matter?

???

Why cancel?  Let MIL attend her interview.  Getting a B2 visa does not mean she has to fly out the same day.  She can wait for FIL to get his interview and fly together, or better yet fly first and FIL travels later.  This is assuming the B2s will be approved, which is a different matter.

Being a medical EMERGENCY, I would assume MIL would need/want to fly right away.  Cancelling her appointment to get a joint appointment to try to get the FIL visa approved does not seem like time is an issue, but your wife has urgent need...something is off here.

It can't be an emergency if you are willing to cancel the appointment.

Keep your MIL's appointment.

You applied for your FIL separately so you must request a separate emergency appointment, too.

If she receives her visa she can wait for her husband or fly alone. Then if her husband receives the visa he can join her.

If you are fine with delaying the arrival of MIL to the US, this doesn't sound like an emergency and you might expect a denial.

You might also expect a denial of the emergency appointment for the FIL because he wishes to assist.. there is no need.

And how much support does your wife need? Consulate might decide only the support of the mother is required.

Good luck!
