Passport Renewal Married name (Colombia)? [edited title]

My Colombian wife (2 Year green card holder, waiting on the 10 year) needs to renew her Colombian passport. Should she renew in maiden name (name currently on the passport) or married name? Couldn't figure which forum this should go in! Hopefully will find its way to someone who knows what should be best. Thanks.

I'd go with married, especially of GC says so

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Does your wife know the process for changing her name in Colombia?

In my country, I had to register the marriage and change my name before I could apply for a passport in my married name.

If it is a simple process of applying for passport and showing marriage certificate and your wife would like to use her married name in Colombia do that.

If she is okay with having one name in the US and one name in Colombia she can apply for a passport in her maiden name.

If her current GC is in her maiden name I would keep all her documents in her maiden name until she applies for US citizenship.
