Hello there

The spouse of my Joint Sponsor is unemployed. And whenever i864A is filled ,there is a box that requires the spouse of the joint sponsor to provide her tax transcript and annual income. Since she is unemployed, I face difficulty in filling the box.

Don't they file their taxes jointly?

Yes they fill the tax return jointly

Then it's the same tax transcript since it's joint return.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

So i leave the box unchecked

Isn't there a box for 'unemployed since?  If so check that.

Again put income as 0.

Answer yes for - have you file tax returns. And provide same tax transcript.

And why are you the one filing the I864A form. Your joint sponsor and her spouse should be doing this and not you.

If you are just assisting them then cool.

No, put her income as 0. But provide the same tax transcript.

Why isn't your joint sponsor's spouse filling the form?

Total income for most recent tax filing is the same for both, that's why it's a joint filing. The couple joint filed so IRS views them as one filing entity.

Again current income = 0

Total tax income = put whatever is on the transcript for the joint couple

Suppose a joint sponsor is a husband... Is it mandatory for spouse to submit i-648A even if she is unemployed but filled Tax  Return jointly with her husband?

It’s not mandatory but the interviewing officer is free to ask for it if they want to. So if you don’t want to delay your case, I suggest bringing it with you to have it readily available should they ask for it.
