Passport if child turns 18 [split topic]

I am naturalized and applied passport on 2/25/23 for my child who will turn 18 in couple of months. Do she has to be approved for passport before her 18th Birthday, what happens if she turns 18 before getting approved for passport?, expedited though.

You have no complete information about your child's situation.

 

Assuming you applied for a US passport for a child under 18 years old because you have naturalized as a US citizen, know that by derivative citizenship law if a child is a permanent resident and under 18, and then at least one parent naturalizes, the child automatically becomes a U.S. citizen. If a parent naturalizes and then the child gets permanent residence, the child becomes a U.S. citizen the moment they become a permanent resident, if that happens before the child is 18. Stepchildren may not derive citizenship from a stepmother or stepfather under this provision.

 

So please clarify are you worried again if your child is going to get approved for a passport before she turns 18 years old?

I believe nothing will happen she will still have derived citizenship as long as she meets all requirements. From your post i assume she meets the requirements of having a green card and living under your care for a period of time prior to you becoming a citizen. Perfect example my wife she submitted for a US passport at the age of 27  through derived citizenship. From the age of 16 she had being traveling outside the country with a foreign passport and she would often get sent to secondary and asked about her passport and her identity never telling her what was the issue. A couple of months ago thanks to visajourney and the help from some of veterans members i was advise to instead of submitting an N-600 and take the risk of losing over 1k if it turned out she wasnt a citizen.i was advise to apply for a passport and gamble 130 instead.
