Update: My original Naturalization Certificate has now been returned. That is 16 weeks from delivery of US Passport. For those with CBP Trusted Traveler memberships (GE, TSAPC, Nexus) if you want to change your citizenship information, I recommend you do that immediately and do not travel overseas without the new card in your possession, I just went through hoops with CBP returning into the US after I lined up in Trusted Traveler counter and they found my card inactive due to the change in information I filed before leaving the US. Thanks again everyone for your insights and thoughts about our prior situation. Cheers, GAPS

Hello everyone, I would like to get your suggestion on what I can do to follow up the return of my original Certificate of Naturalization from the State Department. I received my passport last March 2023 and now it has been 2 months since and there is no sign of the CON in the mail whatsoever. I think we deserve to have our original CON document back not only for all the financial resources we had to invest to obtain it but also its value and importance as the culmination of our long and significant journey and proof of our commitment to the United States . I wrote to NPIC@state.gov and the reply I got is: Thank you for contacting the National Passport Information Center. All the information you need about current passport operations and services is conveniently located on our website at travel.state.gov. Note: If you are sending this e-mail to cancel your appointment at a passport agency, we will cancel it immediately. Thank you for making it available to another customer. This is the only reply you will receive to your email. It's almost unbelievable to note the absurdity of their auto-reply. Not very helpful at all. Any suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. Cheers, G&A

You have no complete information about your child's situation. Assuming you applied for a US passport for a child under 18 years old because you have naturalized as a US citizen, know that by derivative citizenship law if a child is a permanent resident and under 18, and then at least one parent naturalizes, the child automatically becomes a U.S. citizen. If a parent naturalizes and then the child gets permanent residence, the child becomes a U.S. citizen the moment they become a permanent resident, if that happens before the child is 18. Stepchildren may not derive citizenship from a stepmother or stepfather under this provision. So please clarify are you worried again if your child is going to get approved for a passport before she turns 18 years old? This is not to be construed as legal advice.

N-400 Seattle (Part 2)

Bring all original documents of the supporting evidence you submitted for the N-400. If I recall correctly, I was only asked for my Green Card and my passport(s) at the N-400 interview, although I had the rest of my documents in my hand carried file I was not asked to show anymore documents. Goodluck on the N-400 interview. -
I-751 July 2021

Hello July 2022 Filers, Just updating the thread that it is now official for us. N400 case is closed, Certificate of Naturalization issued last January 24th. Godspeed for everyone else waiting for their turn to be sworn in as new American citizens. Cheers, -
I didn't mean there was anything negative about May 2022 filing. Sorry if that alarmed you. So you did get a NOA, when did you get your NOA for the N-400? Has it been 120 days since? If you looked closely - did they indicate a priority date for your case? It's in the top middle portion. Keep faith your case is moving forward. Cheers

That is frustrating. So sorry to read your update. I'm assuming you have an online USCIS account? If not, create one. You can send a message to USCIS in that portal, use the reference number given by USCIS when you submitted your N-400 online, request for confirmation of receipt. I'm concerned about that N-400 being filed in May 2022 and crickets from USCIS. Hang in there.

You know its really important to give as much information when you ask for the forum to share insight on your case. I'm curious why your N-400 is in NBC, I understand that the N-400 should go to the local USCIS office nearest your residency state. Have you received a Notice of Action on your N-400? When did you get that? If not, how long has it been since you filed? Did you file online? or by hard document by mail? I feel there is more to your story here.

My I-751 was moved to NBC on December 12. My I-751 was approved by NBC on January 3. Thats about 3 weeks in between, and 53 days after passing my N-400 interview. If your papers transferred to NBC prior to your N-400 interview, it's reasonable to expect that your are lined up for a combo interview at your N-400. So there's no reason to suspect that the NBC transfer is slowing down your N-400. Cheers, 😊

Hello Seattle N-400 Filers, Updating the thread that we have now been issued a USCIS Form N-4405 Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony for January 2023. This would be a few days over 18 months to the day from the filing of I-751 Removal of Conditions via Lockbox and assigned to LIN Nebraska for processing. This would be a few days over 6 months to the day from the filing of N-400 Application for Naturalization via Online and processed in Seattle, WA. You can see more details in my timeline. The journey is almost over and we are very grateful and appreciate all of you in this forum for keeping us company along the way. Happiest new year to everyone, G&A -

Thanks for your response. We are not shy about another interview to settle the I-751, we can only say bring it on (as soon as they can organize it 😊) and if you have any idea as well, what are the prospects of getting our N-400 (which we already passed) finally approved during the potential I-751 interview? We appreciate you. Cheers,
-
Thank you for this response, I appreciate it. I am curious though that going through the USCIS Case Processing Times (https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/), if you selected I-751 in the drop-down menu, and then went to the field office/service center drop down menu, you won't find National Benefits Center. Thanks again for sharing.

I'm sorry to read your interview was rescheduled. It is possible that the person who had your case in their workload is indisposed for an urgent reason and they may have some difficulty reassigning and redistributing the cases to other officers. I don't think it has anything to do with your paperwork at all. You'd be better off expecting them to take time to sort that out. Cheers,
