For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together.

 

Stay patient because this is a long process currently running 14-17 months for your NOA2 or petition approval by USCIS (first stage). Then your petition will be sent to NVC which runs about 6-8 weeks processing (second stage) and finally your interview at the embassy (third stage).  Also, do not compare yourself to others....Some will receive NOA-2 faster than others, some will be stuck at NVC for longer and then finally some will receive interviews fairly quickly at embassy. STAY PATIENT! 

 

Please create the timeline in your profile. Also note that USCIS goes by "Received date" :

 

Example

I-129 F Sent - March 1, 2023

I-129 F Received - March 3, 2023 (NOA-1) 

I-129 F - Notice Date - March 7, 2023

 

In this example your NOA-1 should be March 3. This will help you fill out your timeline properly.

I'm hoping for as speedy a process as possible, but I suppose we all are. 😁 Any advice for petitioners with a fiancé in West Africa, especially a country similar to Nigeria, in terms of interview wait times, would be greatly appreciated.

i-129F - Sent on March 29th, 2023 

They picked up the package on April 1st, 2023

No NOA-1 yet

 

Haven't heard anything since. Is this normal? Every thread on here I see that everyone gets their NOA-1 within a few days. Kind of discouraging

It can take around 40 days or so. Maybe even longer today, but I would definitely wait a bit longer.

If your NOA-1 is in April, then you should join the April group below.

dang. It has been well over 40 days now and still have not gotten anything. especially is discouraging seeing everyone sending it at the same time and getting it a few days after sending 😞

After a few emails it was discovered that the NOA was not sent the first time to me. They resent and I finally received it! thanks for all the help.

Why did it take almost 2 months? What processing center is yours going to?

I have no idea. It was/is puzzling. I had all the information they needed. I sent to Dallas lockbox. I had to contact them asking what happened and they said they would send the notice again. It took 2.5 weeks for me to receive the notice after that email stating they would send again. 

Email stating they sent another notice: May 24th. Received notice on June 10th.
