Hi again everyone,

I sent all the I-751 paperwork begininng of this week and from the mail tracking, I was notified that everything was delivered to the right USCIS center. What is going to happen now? Am I going to receive a recipt saying that everything was simply received? that the USCIS is going to take on my case? or, I am going to be notified only if some RFE are needed or that my case has been approved?
I have not found any usefull info online and also signing in my personal USCIS account nothing has showed up yet. I'd like to know what to expect in the near future.

Thanks!

I hope you’re not doing this without a lawyer.

You will receive first a notification with the case number, and then a 797 by mail . That 797 will extend your status for 48 months. Once you get that, carry on with life because it’s currently taking 2-3 years to be processed.

Why would I need a lawyer? I had one when filing for the GC since it was tons of paperwork. Now, it is much less, only one, plus we are still married together.

Then, how would it take to receive the first notice granting me to travel abroad, after filing?

Trying not to be rude here, but you need a lawyer because if you had read all the links that people posted on your previous post, you’d have found the answers to your questions.

The timeline to receive that notice varies, but you should be receiving something in 1-4 weeks

Definitely did not think you were rude. You just rose some curiosity in me. Try to be more specific, why would I need a lawyer? I read my previous post, and as far as we can all read, everyone agrees that the I-751 is an easy process if everything was done in bona fide and everything is filled properly.

Yes, they all told you that because it’s a fairly easy process. However, if you’re going to DIY, you should not only know what you need to file, but you should also know what to expect from them. It’s not just a matter of “oh, this is what I need to file, that’s it! I don’t need a lawyer if I know this!” You need to know what an extension letter is, when to expect it, what that extension letter allows you to do, when you can apply for citizenship, the processing times of your center, what evidence to send and how to organize it, etc.

In addition, yes, people told you it’s easy, but they also provided you with links that have all the answers to your questions. Did you read those? That’s what you need to do if you’re DIYing: you need to become an A+ student in your process, as some other members here say

You need to know what an extension letter is - I do

when to expect it - That was my question
when you can apply for citizenship, - Who said I want to ? I-751 and citizenship are two different matters
the processing times of your center - I do,

what evidence to send and how to organize it, etc.  - Of course, I do. It is the most vital part of the filing.

Then you should know that the extension letter is the “receipt” you’re asking about.
Good luck with the process!

As an unbiased poster, you DO NOT need a lawyer for anything, so long as you have no criminal issues. The only things they want to see in the I=751 is that you are indeed married to your spouse. Evidence that I used was a copy of my healthcare coverage for not only her but for the children as well. Joint billing or banking statements should suffice. Depending on your circumstances, you may or may not be required to report for biometrics. What is strange is that my wife and daughter didn't need to appear for biometrics but the older son did. Hang on to that I-757C because you will need that as proof to have your driver's license renewed and if you intend to travel. It looks like action times for I-751's are about 18 months out. FWIW, I did all the work from the initial K-1/K-3 visas all the way to the I-751, including submitting an affidavit stating that I was the interpreter for my wife and family. I did not need a lawyer at anytime. Most lawyers will tell you to do the same thing and charge you for it!
