What to bring to the interview

As I impatiently await my interview date I am starting to think about what I will need to bring to the interview. For all those who have had their interviews, let me know if I'm missing anything from my current thinking list below.

 

Tax returns dating back to 2017

Mortgage statements back to 2020 (we refinanced in 2020 and have lost access to statements earlier than then)

Green Card scan

Passport scan

Daughter birth certificate scan

Wife's naturalization scan

Marriage Certificate scan

Criminal records (certified copies from county)

Character references

 

I find it odd to have physical copies of uploaded documents but will take what I need and more.

That does not help, more of what?

 

I will have 4-5 more character reference letters on hand when I go to add to the uploaded one.

You need to bring what is the letter says.

You don’t need criminal records or reference if they don’t asking and you don’t have criminal history

If I'm not mistaken, you need to bring your physical green card (and not just a scan). I would also add driver's license, and any expired passports if you traveled outside of the country in the past 5 years. My IO also asked for proof of selective service registration (not sure if this applies to you). 

 

Finally, my attorney advised me to take two passport photos as a backup, and sure enough, the IO for my interview asked if I had additional passport photos, and I was glad to have an extra set of two photos.

First of all, you pulled one piece of my post and focused on that, I have a criminal record and was advised to get character references to support my application even though my record is almost 10 years old with no additional issues.

 

Second, I wasn't aware that the interview letter contained requirements of what to bring, I'm glad you pointed that out , thank you.

How am I supposed to guess that you were advised to bring character references?

It was one of the items I had indicated I uploaded to my application.

I guess we’re going in circles here. 
My question was how am I supposed to guess that the character references are due to your criminal record? I have seen people upload reference letters just because they think that it will make their application more “wholesome”.

 

Out of curiosity, who suggested those character references?

Immigration lawyer I got a consult on for this particular section of the application.

As it's been over 5 years since arrest he said it would have a lesser impact and character references couldn't hurt.

I filed based on the 5-year rule in December and just received my interview letter on Friday. The letter doesn't go into that much detail about what to bring. It says to bring the following:

 

• The interview notice
• Your green card
• Any evidence of Selective Service Registration
• Your passport

If you're filing as the spouse of a US citizen it says to bring your marriage certificate, proof of death or divorce for prior marriages for you and your spouse and your spouse's birth or naturalization certificate.

 

I plan on also bringing my driver's license and tax returns (which I also uploaded).
