It really just comes down to clerical information. They reset the numbers and keep track of what's done each fiscal year. For us playing the waiting game I think WAC23 September filers are going to be processed about the same time as WAC22 September filers.

Agreed. Some Sep WAC23s might even get approval before WAC22s

Exactly. It will be very exciting when we get to September approvals, and I'll be even more neurotic about checking my status every day when it gets to October. I'm so paranoid that I'll get RFE, and my biggest fear is an unexpected denial after waiting for so long. I could drive myself insane if I think too much about it all.

Mine is being one of the 10-20% who get theirs a few months later. I can't imagine months of 'is today the day'. The stress would kill me 💀

I do try and remember originally I was looking at 2yrs for a NOA2 so a few extra months is still better than the original estimate

That would be pretty devastating, talk about mental anguish watching everyone else get approved and not having any movement.

 

On the bright side the range of my VJ timeline estimate is all in 2023 now! It doesn't mean a whole lot, but it's a sign of improvement and it makes me happy.

Finally an update on this page to include February. No change in median processing time for the last 6 months from the January update.

Looking to get some clarity, and hopefully good news, on my question below.

 

In the google sheets link to tracking the wait time and backlog, I noticed a tab that shows the app status by filing month. It seems that most rejections happen right off the bat? I.e there's a similar number of rejection on cases currently that were filed in fall 22' compared to cases being processed right now. Does that mean that we all have a very very high approval chance if we have not been rejected already from the start?   See how the number of rejected cases for Oct 22' is almost same as August 21' cases, although most cases from Aug 22' are currently pending.

Rejections happen if cash isn't included or doesn't go through and such clerical issues. Denials also are usually due to not fulfilling requirement which is the 2yr meeting before applying. Quite a few people thought the rule didn't apply because of COVID and get denied. If you have a genuine relationship, you'll be fine. Denials are rare for those who meet the requirements.

 

Remember scams do happen not irregularly so they'll show up on rej+denials and also occasionally people are religiously married or appear so, resulting in rejection.

Yes the majority gets approved at the uscis level. From what I understand most rejections happen when beneficiaries have their interview at the embassy

That's my understanding. Unless they have reason to believe you're already married or there's some other sort of fraud the biggest concern is getting RFE.

It depends on embassy, higher fraud countries will have a higher burden of proof. Some people also don't know anything about their partners or don't have correct documents.

 

There's quite a few people who file very shortly after meeting and are basically strangers, that + high fraud country could result in denial but honestly for the spreadsheet, it's mostly admin errors (like payment failure)
