Any update Jan 2023 filers for parents?

It now says:

Your case is taking longer than expected to process. You do not need to take any action at this time.

Your next step: USCIS reviewing your case

Service center: Nebraska

 Good evening

All experts here need advice. My parents already have B1/B2 visas. They plan to visit me soon, and I’m considering keeping them during their stay in the State. What are the processes I should follow should I hire any lawyer?

I really appreciate you guys advised thank you in advance

It is recommend to NOT start their AoS process when they are visiting you on tourist visa. Tourist visa is not an immigrant visa so it would be a case of visa fraud if AoS is pursued. Not to say people haven't done it before, they have, but is not recommended. File I-130 now and they can still visit you while the process is pending.

no. but I do know August 2022 filers don't have an update either so that might give us some indication on when we Jan 2023 filers can expect any update...

This week, the processing time changed from 4 months to 3 months. Going by other posts on this thread and others, that doesn’t necessarily mean much. But it’s nice to see an update regardless.

What you’re seeing is just an estimate based on their current workload for cases similar to yours. This is why it goes up and down. It’s possible for processing time to shoot back up but let’s hope that never happens. Currently you should be able to see “myProgress” in your USCIS online account that should be a little accurate. It’s a new feature just been introduced for i-130 to show your personal case wait time.

The your case is taking longer than expected seems a standard message most people get.

I would ignore their estimated time, quite what it is based on is unclear and when it runs out you get the your case is taking longer than expected message.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I think they have been working on September 2022 at this moment. At this rate, some of us might hear about it in two or three months. My mom's application said it is taking longer than usual stuff, whereas my dad's said it would take 2 months to go. They were both applied for on the same day.

Yeah, the taking longer than expected could mean a lot of things. USCIS might be waiting to hear from other agencies to verify documents or they might be short staffed so you never know just keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏽

My parents see to be staggerred too....worried what happens if this all doesn't synch up....

Dad's timeline is 8 months, mom's is 10 months....dad's status changed to actively reviewed 6 days ago, and mom's is still sitting on received....
