Hi  I just had my biometrics last August 2022, had an N-400 interview and sadly it was denied due to too early filing

So I applied again and I was informed that I have another biometric appointment this January 3rd.  I was wondering why they didnt use my biometrics done alst August2022?

Reusing biometrics is done sometimes, but not always.   Lick off the draw maybe? Even if they’d opted to reuse yours , you’d still have to pay the biometrics fee.

i did hear that they reuse biometrics if its within a year and i expected that... i have a trip to go to my husband's home state and we will return home by that same day my biometrics is scheduled😓 i dont want to reschedule because there is a chance it might take months.

have you heard people getting biometrics done twice in a year? or after re-apply ?

There is no hard and fast rule or predictor to the reuse of biometrics. Don't overthink this. Maybe play it safe by returning a day or two earlier .. or if you live close enough,  you could try a walk in to the ASC before you go. Not guarantees that they will let you do it but nothing to lose by trying

As an aside, you say the N400 was denied because you filed too early.  Did you file online or by paper?  If online did you submit it days early, or on the day your window opened?

My lawyer filed by paper and filed it outside 90 day grace period

Sorry to hear, hopefully you are able to recoup the cost of having to refile from the lawyer when you fire them.

Good Luck!
