Hello everyone, I was wondering If anyone had any advice. I got an RFE last night asking for more information.

  • I originally included my marriage certificate, but they are requesting it again; is this normal?
  • They also want evidence that we share a marital life.
    • Is a utility bill, health care card, being an authorized person on my credit card enough evidence?
    • Also, we didn't have a wedding ceremony, but it says, "other events", any idea's on what that might mean?

Anyone have any advice? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

List your spouse as beneficiary on life insurance, 401K, retirement accounts, trusts, etc. may also help.

Would sworn affidavits help?

Not really, they don't hurt but an affidavit doesn't prove much.

Combined finances (being each other's beneficiaries, mortgage/rental with both names, joint bank accounts, shared loans) are the best thing.

Proof that you travel together (photos, tickets with names on), get invited to events together, etc. also help.

I saved Christmas cards from family, addressed to the both of us with post dates stamped on them, I don't know how much these are weighted, but it shows that our respective families consider us a couple and have done so for years.

All of this kind of evidence is improved if you have it from a longer timeline.

I own my apartment and the mortgage is under my name, I havent added him on it because I would have to refinance my mortgage.

Since I dont lease, How else can I prove that he lives with me or we share a residence?

That's down to you. What does he have that shows he lives there? A driving license, utility bills? You really want to show that you more than just live together, that's why the combined finances is so important. Do you have wedding invites to you as a couple? Have you taken vacations together? You just need evidence that you're in a real relationship.

Yeah, that happens. Annoying but easily fixed by simply sending again :)

It happens. Sometimes those RFEs are generic letters and they include stuff you've already sent. Just send it again.

Not quite. How about a joint bank account? More utility bills?

Family gatherings, hanging out with friends, etc etc.

Hello everyone! I gathered all the documents.

Is it okay to merge all the PDF's into 1 pdf, or should I submit each individual PDF for the RFE??

Any help is APPRECIATED!
