Friend form Pakistan would like to move to the US

Hello, 

So my friend currently resides in Pakistan, and would like to immigrate to the US. He is in his mid 30s, married with 2 kids. He does have an Uncle who is a US citizen however he lives in Dubai. So no one really living in the US. What kind of legal avenues does he have to immigrate to the US? Student visa, like a post grad degree? Job visa? Lottery visa?

A student visa is a non- immigrant visa, meaning he can't get one with the intent of staying afterwards. That's fraud. 

His uncle can't do anything for him. There is not a "nephew visa". His uncle could petition for your friend's parent, and then his parent petition for him once he has a green card, but that could take decades. 

Sounds like he needs an H1 B visa or a diversity lottery one.

Work visa seems to be your friends only option. Pakistan is not eligible for diversity visa this year and maybe not in the near future. 
 

if he truly and genuinely wants to study in the US then he can go for a student visa.

Countries not eligible this year include the following: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Korea (South Korea), United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its 

 

If he wants to study here,  he can go thru the process for student visa but it is not a immigrant visa so he wouldn't be moving here

Diversity visa is based on place of birth, so it is technically possible for a Pakistani citizen to apply for the diversity visa if they were born in an eligible country.

Thanks, I appreciate your help in this. 

Where was your friend born?  Where was his wife born?  They can apply for the diversity visa if they were not born in Pakistan, and were born in an eligible country.  For example, there are many Pakistanis who were born in KSA, UAE, etc, and they are eligible for the diversity visa.
