Hey! So I live abroad with my Swedish husband who I’m petitioning for and just got a message from nvc that I need to submit I have domicile in the states. I moved to Sweden almost 9 years ago on a relationship visa so I’m not sure how to prove this. We’ve always intended to move back but what is the best way to prove this? Everything else seems to have been accepted tho so yay!
thank you!

Hey, my wife lives in Germany with me, so we also had to add proof of domicile.

We uploaded the following:

- proof of owning a house in the US

- upkept US bank account

- statements of US credit cards

- upkept US life insurance

- upkept US retirement account

- upkept US drivers license

- US voting record

you could also add things like

job offer in the US

enrolling a child in US school

renting an apartment in the US

basically anything that shows your ties to the US :)

Thanks! I have kept my drivers license, a bank account (although I don’t use it I do have it), health insurance. My husband and I are both looking into taking some college classes when we move back could I include that I’ve contacted the schools even if not registered yet? We go back to visit usually once a year. I was thinking of writing a letter to to say why I moved to Sweden and that it’s always been our intention to move back.

Yeah that all sounds good!

we also wrote a sentence saying it was always our intention to move back and my wife only moved to Germany so we wouldn’t have to wait apart during the visa process,  as sort of the cover letter to the rest of the evidence

i would include everything you have, also contacting colleges.
i figured the more the merrier :)

A letter explaining that you are planning to move to city X, state Y, and that you will get an apartment there when your husband gets a visa, should suffice along with your DL and US bank account info.  Some embassies/consulates want stronger proof, like an actual lease agreement, but I don't think Stockholm is one of them.

Basically you have to proof that you never had the intent to give up your US domicile.

Everything @Caro1 said as well as proof that you filed your taxes yearly would help.

I would suggest an affidavit as well saying you never had the intention of giving up domicile and attach all the evidence with explanations.

Your only other option if this fails would be the USC moving back to the States ahead of time to reestablish domicile.

Good luck!
