My mother in law filed IR1 for her husband in March of 2021 to bring him from Jamaica to the USA. They have followed the process until the last email notice from NVC in Feb 2022 stating

The National Visa Center (NVC) received all of the fees, forms, and documents that are required prior to attending an immigrant visa interview at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate General overseas.

NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in KINGSTON, JAM to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable).

..no contact since. They have waited but wondering how long more they should wait to do nothing. Should they be contacting Kingston or NVC and who should they be contacting. I have read different statements in regards the interview that he should call to make an appointment, however the email said to wait until they schedule interview for him.

Please advise next steps of where and who to contact for further update. thank you.

Kingston can do nothing as they have no info about the petition until the interview is scheduled the packet is at embassy

i would send an inquiry to NVC as they no longer accept phone calls

make sure you ID both parties,  both DOB's and the case #

You will need to submit all your inquires through the Public Inquiry Form at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry. You should only send mail to National Visa Center if explicitly instructed to through an email, telephone call, or letter from National Visa Center.

Just checking -- did your MIL get notification from NVC that the IR1 case is DQ (Documentarily Qualified)?

Yes, the above information was copied from an email with a subject field Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case becoming Documentarily Qualified on Feb 18th 2022. It is the last email that was sent to both of them and nothing has happened since then. In the email it says they will schedule an interview but its been 7 months now and they have not been contacted with any interview date. Are they supposed to call and make interview and how .. since instructions say they will be given a date.

VISA CLASS: IR1
YOUR CASE IS CURRENTLY AT: NVC
FOREIGN STATE OF CHARGEABILITY: JAMAICA
INTERVIEW LOCATION: KINGSTON
PRIORITY DATE: 26-MAR-2021

This is what I see on the https://ceac.state.gov/IV became Documentarily Qualified in Feb 2022. That is the last message received in an email. How long more is the wait for interview? I was told by embassy to wait for date but no updates and having a hard time following visajourney timelines.

JA schedules the interview.  They will send NVC several dates for your category and NVC will slot you into one of them and send you the interview letter.

You can email JA and ask them when they are interviewing your category and see what is their response.
