You must be a resident of the state (*) you live for 3 continuous months at the times you:

* file n-400

* interview

* take oath

You can file N-400 but each time you change states adds a minimum 3 month delay to your case.

(*) or field office district for the cases where a field office serves multiple states. If such a field office exists I expect it would be near the border between states.

Assuming you have maintained the current resident for min of 3 months, you can file N400 now. When you move, just change the address with the uscis. No effect in timeline.

If you move first, you have to reside in your new address for 3 months (with paper trail evidence) before you can apply for citizenship.

I moved before starting the process. Guess I have to wait 3 months. Do you have a link that shows that I have to wait 3 months? Someone told me 6 months

Moved from GA to WA. Will it be longer wait time?
