It means they've taken some type of action on your case...

I think for us it meant they moved the case from Nebraska to Vermont...

But, could mean they cashed your check. They opened an envelope.. they assigned the case to a worker.

You should pay no attention to the first active review. Generally the second active review means your case was approved.

Yeah I totally understand you. I was just curious as to what the heck it means but again, it seems like it's all held under wraps and we will never know. I wish I personally knew someone who worked at USCIS to actually clarify how this whole process even works.

For your situation I think it means they connected your I-129F to your I-130 application... as I see you went into active review after you sent in the K3 application.

I'm gonna say I kept an eye on our application the entire time and realized as soon as we went into AR (and I knew we were at Vermont) we would be approved between 250-260 days... so you can find a pattern but you just have to figure out what AR means for the SC you're at...  for us I knew we'd probably get approved 3-3.5 months after we went into AR. As another member told me that was the pattern for cases out of Vermont.

ETA: I woke up on day 260 knowing we'd probably be approved... and we were... but I know timelines for Vermont have changed... and I haven't paid attn to Potomac so I can't tell you what to expect...

I agree. I’ve been looking at the timelines for CSC since that is where I am at and see that most people get approved between 310-340 days after their NOA1. I just hit 300 days today so hoping for some good news in July

I created several excel sheets trying to figure out what would happen with our petition.

If you check out immi timelines for Potomac you'll see average time to NOA2... some people have said the K3 gets your petition looked at sooner(there was a whole facebook group dedicated to K3s and Potomac when I filed last year) so maybe/hopefully you'll get an approval soon but if not plan for 12-13 months

Yeah I am in both of those groups (K3 and the Potomac Filers). And it does seem like the K3 does help 90% of filers. I did plan for a 12 month wait BUUUUUUT I'm being hopeful it's faster (I think we all are).

Side note - are you (or your spouse) from S. Korea? I lived in Seoul for a couple of years. Loved it!

Does anyone know what “USCIS is actively reviewing your case” actually mean?

I’m just curious because some people are still waiting MONTHS even after an “active review.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Means they are playing God again.

It means that they’ve moved your case from the right of their desk to the left, because they needed to make room for their coffee mug. Additionally, they might have cleared the dust it was collecting, to make room for some more.
