Urgent help: Address change IL to NJ

Hi all, first post ever

case facts

- currently a Chicago resident

- citizenship interview scheduled for end of July (July 26th)

- but I am moving out to my new apartment in New Jersey (closest office Newark) in 3 days (June 21st)

Questions

1) do I just show up for the Chicago interview?

2) do I go to the field office in Chicago to ask them?

3) I will update my address online within 10 days of the move — what else can I do to make sure the case is not slipped through the cracks, I have read too many horror stories here

4) any thing else I gotta be doing perhaps?

Assuming you can’t simply stay in a hotel in the state of IL until your interview, I would;

* File AR-11 online on July 1 (exactly 10 days after you move)

* Hope USCIS does not take action to move your case before scheduled interview

* show up at the interview with your AR-11 and electronic receipts (both the original receipt and USCIS response) and hope they let your have the interview

Agree with MIke E

submit the AR-11 to change address

Big but is many submit this and USCIS doesn't follow thru with a change of address in their system

so,,  if u can take copy of the AR-11 and attend the interview

the officer can submit a request for u to take the oath in N J   unless he does same day oath (hopefully then u would be set)

Thank you both. I submitted my AR 11. Instead of online, I sent it via usps and certified mail so I have proof.
appreciate both of y’all’s help.

Why submit it by mail?

So I can take the receipt with me as physical proof of sending it

Nobody will ask for it ever.

It buys more time - so perhaps hoping they don’t get to address change before the actual interview date.

Are you planning to tell the IO that you moved or just hoping he approves you without knowing that? Usually the IOs ask if anything has changed (travel, residence, marriage, criminal actions and such) since the filing of N400.

Great point

I plan to tell them that I have moved after my interview was scheduled. Folks had suggested that the IO may not interview and just say you gotta do it in your new state. I am hoping (fingers crossed) that they do interview me despite the address change.
And then they can perhaps schedule my oath in either location - I won’t ever say no to more reasons to come visit Chicago.
