Hi guys,

quick question, I can’t seem to find anything online about it. I have my medical exam booked for august however I now see it’s a requirement for everyone under 59 years old to get the hepatitis b vaccine. I’ve looked into it and it seems to be 2/3 shots over a course of 6 months.

if I will only have the first dose by the time of my medical will they mark it incomplete and will I have to do a new medical for the AOS process.

thanks In advance!

Normally the series only has to be started. They will tell you at the medical, just make sure you complete the series on time. I'm pretty sure the second shot needs to be 30 days after the first. If i remember right that one was strongly warned to not be late or we would have had to start all over again.

In my experience, you have to have at the minimum the 2nd shot of the 3 shot series for it to be marked complete. For HepB you get an initial dose, then 30 days later the second, and the 3rd, or Booster is done anytime after the 6 month mark. I would try to get at least the first 2 done before the medical exam to be sure it's marked complete.

I was told by a woman from the Mater that because I had my medical booked before it came into effect I may not need it.

I have my medical on July 13th, I am getting my first dose of HepB today just to cover my bum.

Ill ask at the medical and let you know!

Thank you! I did end up getting my first shot and I have my second shot on Friday week so I’m hoping having the two will cover it because I think the rule was already in effect when I booked mine :/

let me know how the medical goes!
