I'm assisting a friend of my wife in getting a work visa in the USA. My wife is from the Philippines (now a dual citizen) and works as a supervisor in a hospital. We were thinking, she could get a work visa as a CNA/Nanny - what forms should she complete; any info. would be appreciated. The applicant is currently working as a nanny in Hong Kong. We are not sure if it is feasible to apply, is it anyone out there that has applied?

The hospital would be the best resource since this complicated and state laws apply.  There are agencies and hospital departments which manage foreign workers.  I'm not sure that job category is recruited.  Good luck.

@Jorgedig might be of help here.

I don't know of any hospital that would petition for CNA/NACs.  It just wouldn't be cost efficient.

I think au pair visas are available for those younger than 26....maybe @Boiler knows?

H4 is for dependents of H1b and generally does not have work authorization

Not heard if a CNA being sponsored

RN would be EB3

Au Pair is a J1 and they go through Agencies

Thanks for your reply. I'm in the USA, I don't understand Au Pair or J1. I will do some research into agencies; please give me more info. if you can.

Why don't you just read about it on the USCIS.gov website?

It is very unlikely the person in question would qualify for a visa as an au pair.

keep in mind that work visas, other than a few very special category, go through the lottery system - it's not always granted right away... best bet is to look for employers who are willing to sponsor an H1b visa - that would mean that the friend needs to start applying and interviewing for those jobs. it's not the other way around...
