Is it okay to have SSN  with restriction "valid for work only with DHS authorization"? Or should we change at certain point?TIA

Once you receive your green card i would go and change it. If it has no annotation on it you can use the ss card with a drivers license for work verification, also I guess if you are buying a car or getting a mortgage it will be less hassle.

That annotation can be removed once you have a green card. Permanent residents don't need separate work authorization, so you can update your status to permanent residency with the SSA and they will send you a new card without that statement on it. Also a good time to update if you had a name change.

You can continue to work with SSN card with the annotation once you become LPR, it won't cause any issues. But just remind yourself to get yourself a new SSN card with the annotation removed.
