Expired Police Clearance

Hi all! I need some advice. 

 

My mother finally got an interview date (11/09/2021). We were DQd in June 2020 but due to the pandemic interview dates were all delayed. Now her police clearance is expired (they were only good for one year). Does she need to get another one before her visa interview?

If she wants a visa, yes.   How would an expired document still be valid?

Police clearances are now valid for TWO years for US immigration purposes - they changed this a while back, presumably partly because of situations like the OP’s during COVID.

Important: Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

• You are more than 16 years old;
• The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than two years ago; and
• You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

No need to be a wise ###. First sentence was good enough. Nobody argued that an expired document is still valid. 
 

I came here to seek advice not snark or to be mocked. The pandemic affected everything. You see, back in the day, the documents you bring to the interview must be the same ones you sent to NVC (refer to the screenshot). The Department of State’s website does not mention anything about expired supporting documents. No mention of needing to get a new one or not. There’s always a chance it’s there and I missed it. That’s just how government websites work. You have to actually know where to look. I know because I also work for the government but not the Department of State so I don’t know how to navigate their website. As you can see we don’t have a lot of time. Hence, seeking advice from here. I remember this forum to be a lot friendlier then.
