First step is to read the guides.  Then begin researching universities/colleges you wish to attend.

Before immigration, you should be looking at cost and exams. You need to take the SAT and see if you have enough funds to cover college. You'll be looking at 40,000 a year plus living costs, so you will have to show that you have, let's say, 200,000 for 4 years of tuition plus living cost. And that's just a general number. It could be more.

 

From your grammar, it does not seem as you are from Australia. If English is not your first language, definitely take more English classes. You'll have to write papers/homeworks in college and take TOEFL as well.

Start with the College / University that you want to attend. They will provide the cost estimates and issue the appropriate immigration paperwork for a F/M/J visa.
