Then yes, the CBP-endorsed IV should be sufficient proof of legal status. Emphasize the part of the visa that says: "UPON ENDORSEMENT SERVES AS TEMPORARY I-551 EVIDENCING PERMANENT RESIDENCE FOR 1 YEAR."

Does this mean, I would get ID expiration date of 1 yr? Also what is I-551? I have IR-1 visa category. (Typo in the subject)

Not sure what you mean? Will I get my ID for next 10 years? That’s when usually ID expires

The IR1 visa expired the day you entered the US.  Instead, you have an endorsed I-551 stamp in your passport good for 1 year from the day you entered, which acts like a temporary GC.

Your driver's license will expire when the one year is up, that's your period of legal status for now.  Or you can wait for your green card to arrive and take that in to get a driver's license, then it will expire two years from your date of US entry.  Or you can get the one year driver's license now and then go back with your green card later to get a new one that will be good until the green card expires (two years from date of entry).  When you submit ROC (I-751) packet 90 days before the conditional green card expires, you'll get an extension letter for 18 months, you can take that in to the DMV with the green card to get another driver's license that will extend it for 18 months.  Good luck!

Each state has different rules regarding DL expiry.  Illinois, for example, will not grant a full length ID/DL if you are applying for AOS
