Mine updated to bio scheduled.  I was also able to download the appointment letter.

Maybe youre one of those electronic filers or the lucky ones whose receipt number starts with IOE?

Every time I've seen a comment about being able to download the bios appointment letter or otherwise seeing things updated on case tracking related to bios, it has been a non-K1 AOS case.

So how do we know when the biometric is scheduled? We just have to rely on the US mail??

Yep.  US mail / informed delivery.

I'm K1 and got an email saying there was a notification send to me. Got the biometrics letter a week later.

Yes and yes. I think those are the same thing.
