Still not sure where you are going with your thought pattern, but freedom allows people to make decisions, even ones some may think are poor.  Beyond that, if you want more government dictate, you can lobby for that.

I think you need to go back and re-read what I wrote.  I did not say lobbying for the government, I said lobbying for more government control.  You say you are a life-long Conservative/Republican, and yet you seem to be desirable of more government control especially by the feds.  Not really sure which it is, so no point in actually discussing that any further.  If you take the political elite position that people are essentially ignorant and need guidance from our self-important political class, then fine, but make that clear.

I did ask what lobbying the government has to do with encouraging those who wish to stand for their choices. No reference from my side to needing, wanting, or asking for anything from the government.
