Anyone come back with an EAD from EU during COVID?

My wife has a pending AOS and we do have her EAD card/social security/etc and would like to go to Spain to visit her family since they haven't been able to come here due to the restrictions. Only thing we're worried about is her possibly having trouble getting back into the country with just a combo card since we heard there may still be restrictions re-entering the country... is this true? Or is there no problem coming back with an EAD right now?

EAD is NOT a travel document and you do not enter on EAD.   Does she have AP?

Restrictions do not apply to spouses of US citizens

If she has a valid AP document, it is extremely unlikely she will have any issues at all re-entering.

Thank you guys for your responses. I am in the same situation and it's been stressing me out a bit. But as you said, the proclamations says it doesn't apply to spouse of USC.

With a valid AP and as the spouse of a US citizen it won't be an issue at all to travel back to the US. Right now you need a negative covid test to board the flight back to the US, even as a citizen, so make sure to plan for that. Obviously things can change before you travel though.

Just to piggy ride - You need one to board even an outbound flight. I just did a PCR. It has to be done within 72 hours of departure. Unfortunately, I canceled my plan at the last minute and postponed due to unavoidable circumstance.

Ooo and you have to make an appointment at Walgreens or CVS for the PCR. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

Depends on where you're going, it's all about the rules of the country you're going to. For Sweden for instance, I don't need to take a covid test. I only need to take one to be able to get back to the US.

Understood.

The airlines might be playing a factor too. That was the requirement for me to board my outbound flight.
