Hello, I was wondering if there is a chance of flying inside the US (FL to CT) while we are in the middle of our AOS process from B-2 visa. We still don't have any immigrant status. Our packet just got to the USCIS process, we got our NOA in the mail, but our Biometric Appointment hasn't been scheduled yet.

Things to know: My foreign passport is fine, but my I-94 expired already. My B-2 visa expires in 2024, and when I got here they didn't stamp on my passport, everything was electronically. Does anyone know if TSA checks your status? or what would you recommend?

Our Journey:

Feb 18th, 2021: Package sent, including: I-130 + I-130A, I-485 + I944 + I-693 + I-864, I-765) and I-131 through USPS

Feb 24th, 2021: USCIS received the package

Apr 5th, 2021: Package rejected, received back (Payment issue)

Apr 6th, 2021: Resent Package through USPS

Apr 7th, 2021: USCIS received the package @ Chicago Lockbox

May 21st, 2021: Checks cashed

May 23rd, 2021: Received the Text Messages with receipt number 

July 2nd, 2021: I-693 Deficiency Notice Received

July 8th, 2021: Expedite Request Received

July 16th, 2021: Received Fingerprint Appointment Letter

August 6th, 2021: Fingerprints Taken

August 9th, 2021: Changed of Address request AR-11online (Beneficiary) and filed I-865 Address Change of my husband (Sponsor)

August 13th, 2021: Confirmation mail: Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview

November 17th, 2021: EAD Delivered

March 15th, 2022: Interview Scheduled

April 21th, 2022: Interview / New Card Being Produced

April 22th, 2022: Case Was Approved

Yes, you can travel domestically. I am almost in the same situation as you, except my I-94 is still valid. We just flew from TN to DC a few days ago. They only checked my passport's data page.

 

As your I-94 has expired, bring copies of your NOA1s, your marriage certificate, and your spouse's passport, just as a backup. In case you are asked about your immigration status, you can say that you are in a period of authorized stay, pending adjustment of status as spouse of a US citizen.

Travel with a copy of your NOA1 and you will be fine.  Don’t show your NOA1 unless airline,

TSA, CBP, or a police officer asks.
