Every single person goes through administrative processing. It could last hours or months. No one can tell you exactly how long it will be. However, I’ve never heard of the consulate mailing you questions. Did they give you a form and did they take your passport?

Could be some red flags they need to investigate. No telling how long it will take. There are some who have been in AP for a couple years.

How long have you lived in Canada before applying for spousal visa? It doesn't seem you're Canadian born and I could guess this may be part of the reason as some new comers to Canada will try to get to the states by living in Canada first and then applying for various visas.

YEAH THEY TOOK my passport. and give me form on which they have ticked by pen that  ADDITIONAL PROCESSING IS REQUIRED. WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN THIS IS COMPLETE . and she verified my email stating that adminstration process is required under your case so we will send you questions on your email as soon as I  answer them then they'll proceed further.

Yeah i have been living in canada since 2015. I have non-immigrant visa of usa and went in out several times as i drive truck across usa-canada and never had any issues on border.

I have permanent residency in Canada not citizen . I am not visitor here seeking visa's for USA that they might think of If i was.

thank you both for reply

Where are you a citizen of? Some countries have longer AP times due to gathering background checks.

My husband interviewed in London. There was an item they wanted to look further into and they did email us with what they needed. The email came to us in about 24 hours so keep checking your email if that is what they said they would do. My husband's issue was resolved with in a month but as others said no one knows how long each person's case will be. Good luck!

No my husband is in a dual citizenship country so they were verifying residency in Northern Ireland and making sure he never lived in the republic. Has to do with the required police checks.
