Good Evening;

Let me start by saying thank you in advance for any input; but as my fellow community members, I'm getting over worried about my 18-Month extension expiring in 5 days. Before I ask my questions; here are my time-line:

  • June 10,2019: Received the I-757 Extension

  • August 29, 2019 We completed our review of your fingerprints and are continuing to work on your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence.

  • August 29, 2019 Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview

  • Nothing ever since after that!

I originally applied to Taxes Process Center, however I am located in NJ. Here are my questions:

1- Anyone who applied around the same time, location have any timeline update?

2- There was no notification that my application was relocated to my local office, as I have seen many people get that notification. Does that mean whomever processing my application still Taxes Process Center? (The online agent said to check processing time for local field -- but I'm not sure if it was moved)

3- I've called twice to get an appointment to get my stamp (I-551) but still haven't heard back, 10 days later. I need to renew my DL, to be able to work, does this qualify as urgent request as the sole provider of my family and need to be able to drive? or not good enough of excuse to get faster appointment?

4- I know people are waiting for over 25+ months sometimes to hear back, but is this the right time to reach out to my representative or senator?

5- Finally, thank you -- I'm sure I'm not the only one freaking out about this; and waiting has been really painful, but I hope I and all of us hear back soon!

Again, thank you all!

Have you applied for citizenship? Reach out to your senator or the USCIS ombudsman.

Hi, I have not applied for the N-400. And I am going to reach out to my Senator to see if they can help me.

Yes, reach out to your senator! N-400 is a personal choice. It usually does result in a combo interview, but not always. It's up to your discretion.

If you are planning to eventually naturalize, there is no real harm in submitting the N400 assuming you meet all the requirements.  As to the DL renewal, I would expect that you could use that as a reason to get the I551 stamp.

Good Luck!

I would call USCIS relentlessly until they schedule an InfoPass for you so you can get an extension. Keep calling and mentioning it's a "dire need" since you need your DL to drive to work.

According to the USCIS processing times, the "Receipt date for a case inquiry" at the Texas Service Center is June 28, 2019 (or earlier). You are now outside of that time. At the very least I would start with a USCIS service request. These do occasionally work.

Edit: and when USCIS says they'll call you back, make sure you're always near your phone and that spam numbers aren't blocked. The one call we got from USCIS was flagged as a spam call by my carrier.

Thank you m Friend for the quick response, I have actually opened an enquiry that my case outside processing time, and they said my application is not in Texas, but then again, I never got a notification saying that it has been moved.

I'll also try today to get to them to ask for InfoPass appointment again, and emphasis the urgency at hand, I was worried if I do, it might count as sort of a strike against me. But what else can I do, I need to drive, to work!

Again, thank you very much. I have also reached out to both my senators and hopefully one of them can reply back to me!

You are not alone. My ROC has been waiting for an interview from 2/2020 and the 18 months extension letter will be expire next month. ROC applications really a big problem with USCIS .

No problem. I believe USCIS has some amount of time (I don't recall what it was, maybe 30-60 days) to respond to the service request. It worked for us when my stepdaughter's green card didn't arrive 4 months after she came to the US. A few weeks later the status of the request changed to "Closed" and the next day we got a notice the card was in production.

I don't understand why extension letters are still 18 months when some service centers are taking over 2 years to process a petition, and they make it incredibly tedious to get an InfoPass appointment. It's ridiculous.

Don't be afraid of "bothering" USCIS - you're paying them for a service, and they are failing. You have to advocate for yourself and occasionally make noise for things to get done. Best of luck, please keep us updated, and sorry that this is happening to you. We just sent our ROC packet a few weeks ago and really worried we'll also get stuck 2+ years with no updates. Because we interviewed during AOS we're praying we'll get an ROC interview waiver.

I'm sorry to hear you are in the same situation, honestly it is stressful and tiring.

Thank you very much. I have opened a request in Dec, and still waiting. Even agent I get is different, some tells me it takes long time to reply to those, some tell me that my application is not in Taxes Process Center, it is in my local field. And that's what confuses the heck out of me, where is my application! lol

I am not afraid of bothering per se' I just don't want to cause myself problems, I know these things takes a while, but its been 20+ months. I mean honestly, I'm only worried about my DL and there is a chance I am moving jobs soon.

It is just stressful that's all, not knowing what is happening! I wish you and your family all the best my friend, and I'll post back if something happens.

Update:

So I reached out to USCIS -- AGaIN -- and they said basically there is nothing they can do, and have to wait for Tier 2 agent to call me back to even ask about my case, my open InfoPass Request and my out-of-processing time request.

I got nothing except that my processing center is the National Benefit Center, which I never got a notification for -- Previous Agent said it was in my Local field. God knows who's right.

I still have to continue to wait for InfoPass! For any kind of useful information! I hope the T2 agent doesn't tell me we have to arrange for another call!
